Sports Day - Sunday 10th February

We have our Sports Day this coming Sunday 10th February.

Our class colour is YELLOW and all the children should come into school wearing a YELLOW coloured t-shirt.

The YELLOW t-shirts the children decorated at the beginning of the year will be sent home on Thursday. Your child can wear this YELLOW t-shirt or any other plain YELLOW coloured t-shirt of their choice.

Thank you so much for your continued support and cooperation and I hope you have a great day!

Show and Tell

December 19

We are going to continue 'Show and Tell' with our children every Thursday. However, we have changed the procedure and only the selected students will bring something to share with the class. The selected students will receive a bracelet on Wednesday as a reminder. We have done this so that every child gets a turn. They can bring in anything of their choice to speak about and explain to their friends. It can be a toy, a photograph of their friends or family, game etc. Please label anything brought in.

Thank you so much for your continued support!

We are expressing ourselves in different ways mostly by speaking our minds and moving our body. Listening and observing is a way of understanding one another and knowing when to use our soft and loud voices. We are practicing soft voice or inside voice while in our classroom which helps them to calm down and regulate their feelings. You can also try it at home!

A must read on how tablets and smartphones impact our child's development.

Smartphone and Tablet Screen Time: Good or Bad for Kids?

It is essential to teach our children the following social and emotional skills at home which is the foundation to stay focused in learning their academics like listening, using polite words, being responsible, sharing, taking turns, self regulation, following directions and mindfulness. Click: social and emotional development and self regulation for more information.

We do calming activities and wiggles out dance every transition and they love it!. Here is the GONOODLE site that you can do at home.

Important Information

Our school is a nut FREE school and we have a NO nut policy - No nuts, NO peanut butter sandwiches and NO food containing nuts please.

This is extremely important as we do have children with nut allergies. Any food found containing nuts will be sent home unconsumed.

Please take notes of the following things:

-Please be on time, class starts at 7:00 am and pick up is at 12:00 noon sharp. Please don't be late picking up your child, please think of how tired they must be by the afternoon. We don't want the children to hate school because they are tired of waiting for you to pick them up. So please do everything you can to make sure your child is picked up at 12:00 noon.

-Please send extra clothes labelled with your child's name. These are for any accidents that may happen and will be kept inside their bags in case they are needed throughout the year.

-Please label all items your child brings to school with their name.

-For your child's snack, please send healthy small snacks such as fresh fruits, sandwiches (Finger food). Please do not send in sweets, chips, fried foods such as nuggets and french fries, candy bars or sodas.

-Please send enough water to last your child throughout the day.

-If your child needs to take any medication on a regular basis, please contact the school nurse. All medication must be given to the school nurse as soon as your child comes to school.

-Kindly be informed that children must not bring jewelry to school. We will not be responsible for any losses.

-Kindly be informed that all information and class photographs will be put up on to the Google Site.

-Kindly keep up to date with our KG2 Team’s Google page and our class KG2 Hummingbirds Google page for any important information and updates. I will not be sending out many emails, as all our information will be displayed on the Google site.
